British Air Force Typhoon jets have conducted a mission with French aircraft in a joint strike targeting an hidden munitions depot in Syrian territory employed by the IS group, per a report from the UK's MoD.
The site, identified by intelligence, was believed to be containing munitions and bombs, the release indicated, and was located in mountainous terrain just to the north of Palmyra in the heart of Syria.
"The RAF jets utilized Paveway IV guided bombs to target a series of approach shafts providing entry to the facility... preliminary assessments are that the objective was successfully hit," the ministry announced.
There was no indication of any harm to civilians in the strike on Saturday evening and all the aircraft returned safely, the ministry further stated.
The Typhoon fighters were backed up by a Voyager refuelling tanker.
