Nineteen of the Russian's 21 titles have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player claimed his initial title for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging season, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in especial - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently advanced in the past month - culminating in a closely contested competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his initial title since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt after spring of 2023.

Success also means the Russian has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my children together, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his previous six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had led commentators to question if his skill to perform at the top level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play assertively, backed up by an improved service.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, taking four of the final five points to take the lead.

Both players traded break points in the second set before the challenger, striving for his initial ATP Tour title, gained dominance to create a decider.

He rescued 4 initial break points in a competitive third set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner secured the win with a rally at the net, with his opponent failing to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
